Swift action to ensure passenger safety
The incident occurred nearly an hour after takeoff when passenger T.D.H, seated in 17E, experienced a health issue. The passenger, a Vietnamese national, showed symptoms of a dangerously rapid pulse.
Two doctors on board assessed the situation and determined that immediate hospital care was necessary.
The captain promptly informed Vietnam Airlines’ operations center and requested permission to divert to Da Nang, aligning with the passenger’s urgent need for medical support.
The aircraft resumed its journey to Hanoi at 12:08 p.m., resulting in a two-hour delay to the flight schedule.
Commitment to passenger well-being
Vietnam Airlines has a history of prioritizing passenger health and safety, frequently delaying or diverting flights to address medical emergencies.
On December 27, flight VN307 from Tokyo (Narita, Japan) to Ho Chi Minh City made an emergency landing at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan to assist another passenger requiring immediate medical attention.
Despite the logistical challenges and costs associated with emergency landings - including fuel adjustments, ground services, and flight rescheduling - Vietnam Airlines emphasizes that passenger safety remains its highest priority.
