VietNamNet Bridge – At least over 1 tons of fish died in mass in the Nuoc Trong Reservoir in Son Ha District, the central province of Quang Ngai in recent days.

Nuoc Trong, with a capacity of 290 million m3, is the largest reservoir in the central region. The total investment capital in building this work is up to VND2.3 trillion ($110 million), to serve irrigation purposes and hydropower production.

As reported by Son Ha District authorities, from mid-February, a lot of fish unexpectedly died in the reservoir.

Mr. Dinh Van Thanh, a local man, said he has never witnessed such phenomenon in more than 10 years. Dead fish washed ashore and was very smelly.

Many local people said that they collected dozen kilograms of dead carp weighing from 300g to 5kg to feed pigs.

Within a half of month, at least 1 ton of natural fish died in the lake.

The local government took water samples for testing to find out the causes.

Na Son
