The decision was made by the festival’s steering committee at a meeting on April 5 among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives from cities and provinces home to UNESCO-listed world heritages, and relevant agencies, in line with the Prime Minister’s instruction.

The festival will bring into play Viet Nam’s role in fostering cooperation between ASEAN countries, as well as promote cultural values of world heritages in Viet Nam in particular and ASEAN in general, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thanh Son.

ASEAN members will take turns hosting the annual festival.

Viet Nam has seven tangible and seven intangible heritages of the world, recognized by the UNESCO.
