Automatic coffee making machine are usually sold at high prices. Imports from Italia, the US and other sources are mostly used in offices and hotels.

Vuong Van Hung from Le Thanh Production, Trade & Service Company decided that he would invent a cheaper coffee maker for Vietnamese tastes.

According to Hung, import coffee makers do not consider condensed milk that Vietnamese use. With the machines, users can only press buttons to choose coffee choices for themselves, from Espresso, Americana to Cappuccino. They prove to be better for users in temperate zone rather than tropical zones like Vietnam.

Hung said he and his co-workers had to spend many days learning about the Vietnamese tastes.

“Every of us had to drink tens of cups of coffee made by the machine every day to find what the best was,” he explained.

The machine has many components and small accessories, from buckets for ice, milk, water to the stirring system. There are many buttons for users to choose what kind of coffee they want. There is one small coffee grinder attached.

When making coffee with the machine, users just need to press the buttons on the LCD screen and wait for several seconds to get a cup of coffee they want.

Unlike foreign-made machines, the coffee maker invented by Hung is programmed to create many different types of coffee, from hot coffee, ice coffee to milk coffee. It can make 300 cups of products every hour.

“Since you make coffee with machine, which is programmed with standard recipes, you will get cups of coffee with stable quality,” he said.

According to Hung, the key of the machine is the reverse osmosis technology to press and filter coffee and the automation technology .

While the coffee pressing technology is not too complicated, it is difficult to automate the process of pressing, filtering, providing coffee with milk and ice.

Hung’s machine is believed to have more sophisticated accessories because they are designed to satisfy the requirement of saving power and ensuring food hygiene. Also, the machine has to undertake many different stages in the coffee production process. Foreign made products are usually simpler.

Hung and his co-workers are considering creating many different models for different purposes, from machines for canteens to those for household use.
