Fireworks will light up the sky over the Red River in Hanoi on the Lunar New Year’s Eve (February 18) as local authorities recently approved the display from the river’s alluvial ground under the Long Bien Bridge.
The municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said the high-range fireworks show will be funded by sponsors and not by the city’s budget.
Beyond the Red River’s vicinity, Hanoians can also witness fireworks from 30 other venues, including Hoan Kiem Lake (Hoan Kiem district), Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung district), Lac Long Quan flower garden (Tay Ho district), Van Quan Lake (Ha Dong district), and My Dinh National Stadium (Nam Tu Liem district).
As scheduled, fireworks will also be set off at these locations in honour of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day on April 30 and the National Day on September 2.
Last year, Hanoi ushered in the Lunar New Year with 15-minute-long fireworks displays in 29 areas around the city.
