Final collection of late Spanish designer Diego Chula to be presented at show

More than 40 designs from the 'Mosaics of Vienam - Vietnamese pieces' collection by Diego Chula will be presented as a tribute to the late Spanish fashion designer.

The “Eternal Flow” art show will be part of Vietnam National Day in Dubai on December 30, which aims to promote the beauty of Vietnam's ethnic regions through exhibitions of paintings, music, movies and fashion.

Designer Diego Chula had just completed 30 designs for this important event when he suddenly passed away at the age of 49 last October. His latest collection will be introduced at the event as a way to pay tribute to a foreigner who loves brocade, silk, Vietnamese fabrics and Vietnamese culture.

The collection will be presented by many Vietnamese beauty queens and top models such as H'Hen Niê, Do Tran Khanh Ngan, Mau Thuy, Hoang My, Kim Duyen, Bui Minh Anh, Ngo My Hai, Ha Thu, Le Hang, and 64 international models.

Diego Chula, real name Diego Del Valle Cortizas, was born on September 16, 1972 in Madrid. In 2003, Chula and his wife Laura came to Vietnam to visit relatives, where they fell in love with the Vietnamese people and culture. They decided to stay in Hanoi.

The couple had planned on opening a furniture business in Vietnam, but after successfully designing a few dresses for Laura to go to a party, Chula decided to pursue fashion. Chula's design style was always influenced by architecture, with striking and impressive color choices. The designs emit a message of optimism, love of peace and sharing, but moreover, a respect for traditional Vietnamese values. He was passionate about silk and brocade materials, applying them to innovative Ao Dai designs as well as western dresses and other clothing lines.

Diego Chula also supported many Vietnamese artists through music nights and non-profit exhibitions at his studio. The Spanish designer helped many people with disabilities, providing them with employment and turning his fashion factory into a second home for them. Chula’s fashion products are made by the skilful hands of Vietnamese people with disabilities. When combined with his creativity, it is of little surprise that received such love from the public.

His collections have regularly featured at the Viet Nam Fashion Week since the early 2010s, making him the international designer with the most displays.
