VietNamNet Bridge – A representative of the Rosatom Corporation, the general contractor of Ninh Thuan nuclear plant, said the project is still going on schedule. Later this year the independent consultant firm will submit a feasibility report to the Government.
Mr. Andrey Stankevich, representative of Rosatom Corporation, said that the independent consulting firm is still making the feasibility report of the project to submit to the investor and the Vietnamese government for approval.
"Gathering information for plant design will be conducted immediately by Rosatom after the feasibility report is passed," he said.
However, there is also the idea that the progress of construction of the plant is delayed, but Andrey said "everything is going on as planned" and Ninh Thuan is safe to build a nuclear power plant.
Ninh Thuan – the first nuclear power project in Vietnam was passed by the Congress in November 2009, includes two plants with a total capacity of 4,000 MW located in Ninh Thuan in central Vietnam.
Under the plan, the construction of Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant 1 will be launched in 2014 and it will begin generating electricity in 2020.
Russia has agreed to loan Vietnam about $8 to $9 billion for the project, the loan term can be up to 28 years.
