
On the morning of April 13, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Industrial Zones Authority confirmed that following a workplace incident involving a gas leak at Zinc Oxide Corporation Vietnam Co., Ltd. (located in Phu My 3 Industrial Zone, Phu My City), employee T.V.D. died, and several others were affected.
Initial reports indicate that at around 9:55 a.m. on April 12, a gas leak occurred in the AOZ department of Zinc Oxide Corporation Vietnam.
The leak caused many workers to suffer symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty breathing, headaches, and excessive sweating.
All affected workers were immediately transported to Ba Ria Hospital for emergency treatment and underwent medical testing.
As of 5:00 p.m. the same day, the hospital reported that 40 individuals had been discharged, while one patient remained under observation due to close exposure to the gas.
The case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Police Department of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police to determine the cause of the incident.
Zinc Oxide Corporation Vietnam is known for handling and disposing of hazardous waste and for treating and recycling steel furnace dust to produce zinc oxide, which can replace zinc concentrate.
