Located in the tourist complex of the Marble Mountains, Huyen Khong is one of the most beautiful and spiritual places in the central city of Da Nang.
The Huyen Khong Cave is positioned on the top of the Thuong Thai - the peak of the majestic Marble Mountains complex.
Marble Mountains is a cluster of five marble and limestone mountains close to the sea, located about 10 km south of the city center. Each mountain is named after one of the five elements in oriental philosophy: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.
With charming scenery and mossy rocks, this complex was chosen by the older generation to build architectural works imbued with the historical values of Da Nang.
Stepping into the cave, visitors will be immediately impressed by the stone statues of Good and Evil gods placed along the two sides of the stairs, reminding them to always do good deeds.
One of the highlights of the cave is the Shakyamuni Buddha statue on the opposite side of the entrance. It was made in 1960 by artist Nguyen Chat who was a skilled craftsman in Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village.
The altar of ‘Dia Tang Vuong Bo Tat’ (the most powerful Buddha in hell) is below the Shakyamuni Buddha statue.
The shrine of ‘Ngoc Phi’ (the Goddess of Wealth) where people pray for wealth is on the left side of the cave, while the shrine of ‘Loi Phi’ (the Goddess of Mountains and Forests) where people pray for health and peace is on the right.
Nestled deep in the entrance to the cave is the ancient ‘Trang Nghiem Tu’ temple built in 1825. The temple consists of three compartments. The main hall worships the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The left side worships three saints Quan Cong, Quan Binh and Chau Xuong symbolizing righteousness, intelligence and loyalty, respectively. The right-side worships Mr. To and Mrs. Nguyet where couples come to pray for love.
