Many large buildings in Hanoi such as Discovery Complex Cau Giay, Mipec Tower Dong Da and Artemis Thanh Xuan are now mostly abandoned.
The Discovery Complex Shopping Center in Cau Giay District used to once be an attractive and bustling destination but is now in a deserted scene.
Many stalls in this 8-floor shopping center are empty.
On the 2nd floor, only 2 stalls selling men's fashion and accessories are open.
Floors 4, 5 and 6 are closed completely, the escalator has stopped working, and the corridors are dark.
Many stalls are locked during office hours.
Elevators on floors 4, 5, and 6 do not work.
The 5th floor of the building used to include fine dining brands and high-class restaurants that attracted young people as well as families. But it is now closed.
Currently, most customers come to this shopping center to visit the supermarket on the 1st floor and watch movies on the 8th floor.
A cleaner said that most of the stalls closed in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Artemis Shopping Center in Thanh Xuan District is in a similar situation. This shopping mall was once the busiest shopping center in Hanoi.
Many famous brands have returned their premises to landlords.
Located in a prime location (Le Trong Tan intersection), activities at this shopping center are not busy.
An exposed ceiling and broken wall corners in a shopping center.
The escalator system has stopped working.
Inside the Mipec Tower (Dong Da district). This complex has a total area of 29,000m2, including a 25-storey office tower, two 27-storey luxury apartment towers connected by a 5-storey shopping and commercial area, and two basements with an area of 20,000m2 that can accommodate 600 cars and thousands of motorbikes. Currently, only the CGV cinema is operating.
Since July 1, 2021, Lotte Mart and other booths have closed.
Lotte Mart Dong Da opened in March 2014 with more than 20,000m2 of retail floor, nearly seven times larger than Lotte's two other centers in Hanoi.
This place competes with large shopping centers nearby such as Vincom Mega Mall Royal City and Vincom Pham Ngoc Thach.
This is a complex of high-end apartments, offices for rent and the largest commercial area in Dong Da district.
