VietNamNet Bridge – The National Assembly (NA) of Viet Nam pays great attention to the co-operation the country shares with Russia in the energy sector and is constantly working to create favourable conditions for Russian enterprises to increase their investment in Viet Nam, according to NA Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
At a meeting in Ha Noi yesterday, Jan 7, with Vice Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for Energy, Sergei Levchenko, Ngan expressed her delight at the flourishing friendship between the two nations. She noted that the upgrading of their bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership reflected the deep mutual trust between them as they work together in areas of mutual interest.
She suggested the two sides regularly exchange delegations and share experience in parliamentary activities, prioritising work in the fields of science and technology (with a focus on nanotechnology), information technology and new materials.
She outlined her hope that the Russia State Duma Committee for Energy and the Viet Nam NA Committee for Science, Technology and Environment will continue to foster their co-operation in specific activities enhancing mutual understanding and the effectiveness of the two parliaments.
Briefing his host on the outcome of his working sessions with Vietnamese agencies, Levchenko emphasised his committee's support for partnership with Viet Nam in all fields, including energy.
Earlier that day, Levchenko and his delegation held talks with a group from the Viet Nam NA Committee for Science, Technology and Environment led by its Deputy Head Le Quang Huy.
The two sides agreed that energy co-operation, as previously stated by leaders of the two countries in recent years, is vital. They consented to strengthening mutual support in finance and technology serving the exploitation of oil, gas and energy.
They agreed to exchange law making experiences, and strategise with each other to plan their 2013 work agenda.
Levchenko, in his other capacity as President of the Russia-Viet Nam friendship parliamentary group, ended a successful and productive day by meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Dao Trong Thi, who also serves as the Chairman of the NA Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescence and Children.
