Designers launched a number of inspiring collections at Elle Fashion Journey 2016 at the Gem Center in District 1, HCMC last week.

The first night of Elle Fashion Journey 2016 introduced four outstanding collections by Dieu Anh, AnhHa, Tuan Tran, and Thuy Nguyen to 500 guests on Friday.

Dieu Anh showed 25 creations of “An old dream of a fabulous Saigon” collection in the 1950s style with diverse colors of denim drift. AnhHa, a brand from London by two overseas Vietnamese designers Viet Ha Dang and Anh Trieu, unveiled a collection inspired from the myth of the Sword Lake with 20 ready-to-wear items made from silk and visco in theme colors of cobalt blue, emerald blue, black and white.

“Drought and rain” was the theme of Tuan Tran’s collection of evening gowns in brown and moss-green made from transparent materials with velvet, sequin and metallic patterns and sparkling stones. 

Thuy Nguyen brought to the fashion event her silk collection with modern designs decorated by patterns from Vietnam’s folk stories and art forms.

Guests were impressed by Miss Universe Vietnam 2015 Pham Huong’s performance of a design in Thuy Nguyen’s collection “Coc Cach” (clang). Huong’s parade was accompanied by a cai luong (Southern opera) performed by People’s Artist Ngoc.

The second night of Elle Fashion Journey 2016 on Saturday featured creations by four other designers Anna Vo, Giao Linh, Quang Nhat and Nuchsuda. Activities are being organized for the event includes “Elle Fashion Road Trip” at HCMC University of Architecture, Hoa Sen University and Ton Duc Thang University until October 7.
