The HCMC Department of Tourism and the Handicraft & Wood Industry Association of HCMC (HAWA) on October 22 granted prizes for the authors of eight entries that won a souvenir design contest.
A souvenir set that includes picture frame, business card holder, motorbike and scooter toys, and another set that comprises T-shirt, handbook and painting
The winning designs were selected from 66 entries in the seven-month contest co-held by the department and HAWA to choose those souvenir designs for the city.
The selected products meet criteria such usability, aesthetics, creativity, commercial viability, low cost, easy production and transportation, and use of popular materials.
La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of the Tourism Department, said there has been a steady rise in visitors to the city, especially those from abroad, but most souvenirs available at tourist attractions in the city do not feature the city. Therefore, the contest was organized to find suitable souvenir items that are culturally meaningful.
At the prize presentation ceremony held at Grand Hotel Saigon, many travel and trading enterprises have expressed interest in the winning products.
Miss Aodai, a store chain specializing in souvenirs, placed orders for two souvenir products, including T-shirts and 3D books that show tourist attractions of the city.
