The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, who is also Vice President of the European Commission (EC) will pay an official visit to Vietnam from August 11-12.

The visit is made at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh at a press briefing in Hanoi on August 7.

The upcoming visit aims to review bilateral relations between Vietnam and the EU over the past years and propose measures to further promote relations and coordination between the two sides at international forums such as EU-ASEAN, ASEM, the UN and discuss regional and international matters of mutual concern.
