A Mercedes driver lost control and crashed into multiple motorcycles at a Thu Duc intersection, resulting in one fatality and five injuries. Authorities confirmed the driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

On the afternoon of March 16, a serious traffic accident occurred at Thu Duc Intersection (Hiep Phu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) when a Mercedes, driven by N.T.T.N. (41 years old, residing in Thu Duc City), suddenly plowed into a group of motorcyclists waiting at a red light.

According to initial police reports, Ms. N. was driving in the wrong lane, entering a motorcycle-only lane where cars are prohibited. As she approached the Vo Nguyen Giap - Le Van Viet intersection, she lost control of the vehicle, ramming into 10 motorcycles, causing multiple injuries.

The crash left five people seriously injured, including H.T.T.T. (28 years old, from Dong Nai), a university student who was dragged under the car along with her motorcycle. Local residents and emergency services quickly transported the victims to Gia Dinh People's Hospital. However, on March 17, the hospital confirmed that Ms. T. had succumbed to her injuries.

During questioning, Ms. N. admitted that she mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, leading to the devastating crash. A breathalyzer test showed her blood alcohol concentration exceeded 0.4mg per liter of breath, well above the legal limit for operating a vehicle.

Following the accident, Ms. N. stepped out of the car in tears. The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department is investigating and preparing legal proceedings against her.
