Long Thanh District in Dong Nai Province has proposed four locations near Long Thanh International Airport for the development of a free trade zone, aiming to boost economic growth and attract investment.

On March 4, the Long Thanh District People’s Committee announced that it had submitted a report to the Department of Finance, reviewing and recommending potential sites for the free trade zone.

Strategic locations for development

The district has identified four strategic locations near Long Thanh Airport that are suitable for the free trade zone, all benefiting from direct access to major transportation routes.

Southwest of Long Thanh Airport (Long Phuoc and Long An communes) – approximately 900 hectares.
Northeast of Long Thanh Airport (Cam Duong commune) – approximately 200 hectares.
Northwest of Long Thanh Airport (Long An and Binh Son communes) – approximately 200 hectares.
Southeast of Long Thanh Airport (Tan Hiep and Bau Can communes) – a central logistics hub covering approximately 100 hectares.

The establishment of a free trade zone near the airport is expected to stimulate economic growth, attract foreign investment, and enhance the region’s role in logistics, international trade, and import-export services.

Government support for free trade zone development

In February, Dong Nai Provincial Chairman Vo Tan Duc submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister, requesting approval to conduct feasibility studies for the free trade zone near Long Thanh Airport. The goal is to maximize the airport’s potential once operational.

According to the provincial government, this initiative is one of the key strategies to help Dong Nai achieve double-digit economic growth from 2025, in line with the Prime Minister’s directive.
