The People’s Committee of Cao Loc District, Lang Son Province, has officially received the national historical site ranking for Dong Dang Fortress from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
On the evening of February 6, Cao Loc District held the opening ceremony of the Dong Dang Festival 2025 and announced the recognition of Dong Dang Fortress as a national historical site.
The event was attended by Nguyen Ngoc Thieu, Chairman of the Cao Loc District People’s Committee, along with local government officials and a large number of residents and visitors.
During the opening ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Thieu, together with other district leaders, received the official certificate from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, acknowledging Dong Dang Fortress as a national historical site.
The recognition highlights the fortress’s historical and cultural significance. Built by the French in 1940, Dong Dang Fortress is a multi-level military structure, spanning 60 meters in width and 100 meters in length. The fortress consists of three levels: the highest level was designed for observation, the second level housed combat rooms and gun slits, while the lowest level stored military supplies, ammunition, food, and meeting rooms.
As part of the celebration, Cao Loc District also launched a new pedestrian street featuring weekend cultural and recreational activities.
The Dong Dang Festival, held on the same evening, provided an opportunity for both locals and visitors to enjoy traditional festivities. The event included various exhibitions showcasing local products, attracting a large number of attendees.
