Vietnamese students have been caught in a vicious circle: they try to obtain university education at any costs, but become redundant after the graduation. Therefore, they have to continue studying for master degree to become redundant once again.

 VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Education and Training on October 4 released the decision to revoke the doctorate of Hoang Xuan Que, Deputy Head of the Finance & Banking Institute, an arm of the Hanoi National Economics University.

Thousands of Vietnamese young intellectuals leave Vietnam every year to attend training courses overseas. Very few of them return to Vietnam after finishing the training courses.

A lot of people, who have just graduated universities, or finished schools many years ago, now rush to attend training courses to obtain higher degrees before the State tightens the postgraduate education management.

It is now a growing tendency for people to follow further studies to obtain master degrees and doctorates. However, the majority of them follow higher education just for job promotion, not for scientific research.
