Following the tragic house fire at 209/3 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (Ward 4, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province) that claimed the lives of four family members, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, on behalf of the Government, extended heartfelt condolences and support to the victims’ relatives.

According to an official telegram, the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on April 10 at the private residence on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, resulting in the deaths of four individuals from the same household.

Speaking on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

He directed the Tien Giang provincial authorities to provide timely emotional and material support, and to ensure the affected family is relocated and assisted in resuming normal life as soon as possible. He also called for close coordination with the Ministry of Public Security to urgently investigate the cause of the fire, clarify any organizational or individual responsibilities, and strictly handle any violations in accordance with the law.

The Deputy Prime Minister further instructed the Minister of Public Security and chairpersons of centrally governed provinces and cities to continue rigorously enforcing the Prime Minister’s directives on fire prevention and firefighting - especially ahead of the upcoming public holidays on April 30 (Reunification Day) and May 1 (International Labor Day).

In particular, the Ministry of Public Security is tasked with reviewing and compiling reports for the Government on accountability assessments. This includes considering the responsibilities of local and sectoral leaders whose neglect in directing and managing fire safety may have contributed to serious incidents.
