
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized that Ukraine values its friendship and cooperation with Vietnam and welcomes Vietnam's stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son reaffirmed that, as a friend of both Russia and Ukraine, Vietnam maintains a consistent and balanced stance on the conflict.
He emphasized that all disputes must be resolved through peaceful means, in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Vietnam supports international mediation efforts aimed at achieving a long-term peaceful resolution to the conflict, with the participation of all relevant parties.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha agreed to maintain communication and high-level exchanges and to soon hold a Deputy Foreign Minister-level political consultation.
Earlier, during the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 13, in response to a question from VietNamNet regarding Vietnam’s willingness to offer a venue and support efforts to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang reaffirmed that Vietnam backs international mediation efforts for a lasting peaceful solution. She stressed that this process should involve all relevant parties and adhere to international law and the UN Charter.
"We are also ready to participate in international efforts to promote dialogue and seek peaceful solutions to end the ongoing conflict," the spokesperson stated.
On January 21 in Switzerland, during a brief meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated Vietnam’s support for international mediation efforts to achieve a lasting peaceful solution. He also affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to contribute to global initiatives that promote dialogue and peace to bring the conflict to an end as soon as possible.
As a responsible member of the international community, Vietnam previously hosted the second U.S.-North Korea summit and remains open to providing a venue and making every effort to support peace-seeking initiatives for conflicts worldwide.
