The question and answer session of the 14th National Assembly’s fourth sitting on November 16 was heated up with issues regarding tax, public debt and monetary policy management.
Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung at the Q&A session
Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung cleared up queries on administrative reform in the tax and customs sector, tax fraud, tax debt, the ministry’s responsibility for tax management, the increase of value added tax on a number of goods and import duty reduction.
He was also grilled on solutions to manage public debt safely and effectively, focusing on the setting of public debt ceiling and the implementation of the Law on Public Debt Management.
Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Ministry of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung also made it clear the above-mentioned matters.
Concluding the hearing session of this group, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked the Finance Minister to address the shortcomings and answer in writing the remaining questions.
Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Le Minh Hung fielded questions on managing the monetary policy to ensure support for production and business activities as well as reasonable credit growth, and restructuring the banking sector.
Questions regarding bad debt settlement, bitcoin management, non-cash payment and enterprises’ access to preferential loans to develop high-tech and clean agriculture were also responded by the official.
Hung is scheduled to continue his Q&A session on November 17.
