VietNamNet Bridge – The third quarter of this year will likely see an increase in recruitment demand among enterprises in the country, especially for sales and marketing positions, a survey has found.

The survey, conducted by Malaysia-based JobStreet.com, found that 54 per cent of polled human resource officials from more than 500 enterprises nationwide said they planned to recruit more staff for the third quarter.

Nearly 45 per cent of enterprises said they hoped to hire more staff to meet expanding operations while 18 per cent said they would recruit people for key positions.

Only 19 per cent of respondents said there would be no changes in their personnel until year-end.

The sales and marketing sector accounted for 72.5 per cent of recruitment demand, followed by information technology and clerical/administrative sectors, with 23.6 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively.

JobStreet.com, an internet recruitment website in the Asia-Pacific region, surveyed 4,200 job seekers in Viet Nam.

Sixty-four per cent of them said the second half of the year was a good time to take a new job.

Nearly half of the respondents said they would likely move to a new job by the end of the year, and 60 per cent felt confident about getting a new position.

Ninety-two per cent of job seekers said they used online recruitment websites, and 53 per cent said they found employment opportunities through friends. Only 18 per cent of respondents said they had found jobs via employment-service companies.

Sectors surveyed

Also a report from the HCM City Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information said that sales and marketing had the strongest demand for recruitment among 12 sectors, with 20.5 per cent of demand, double the tourism and hospitality industry, which ranked second.

The survey polled more than 9,500 enterprises and 40,500 job seekers in HCM City.

All of the 10 remaining sectors posted light placement opportunities leveling below 10 per cent, including electricity and electronics at 2.5 per cent, and storage and import export at only one per cent.

The city needs to hire 130,000 employees until year-end, with 70,000 positions for the third quarter and the remaining 60,000 for the final quarter, according to the city's job placement centre.

According to another report from the job-recruitment website www.vietnamworks.com, many enterprises in the country said they would recruit more staff this year to meet business plans as well as new investments.

Sixty-two per cent of respondents to vietnamworks.com survey said recruitment demand was higher this year than in 2012. The report was based on replies from the website's regular customers.
