VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese American Daniel Nguyen defeated Adrian Menendez Maceiras of Spain to secure a ticket to compete in the men's singles quarter-finals of the Viet Nam Tennis Open in HCM City yesterday.

World No 248 Nguyen crushed No 3 seed Maceiras 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.

In the first round of men's doubles, Nguyen Hoang Thien and Nguyen Minh Tuan lost to Saketh Myneni and Sanam Singh of India 6-0, 6-2.

Earlier, Thien lost to Liang Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei in the men's singles, first round.

Viet Nam's top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam was also disqualified from the event in both men's singles and doubles.
