VietNamNet Bridge – The police of Dak Lak province have discovered and destroyed more than 1,000 marijuana plants grown in the garden of a woman. The owner claimed that she grew marijuana to feed pigs and poultry.
According to police of H.Krong Pak district, Dak Lak, the case was detected on April 24 at the garden of Mrs. H'huong Mlo, 39, in Tan Tien commune, H.Krong Pak district.
Checking the garden of 500m2, the police found a total of 1,042 marijuana plants. The trees were destroyed. Mrs. H'huong said she planted the marijuana to feed pigs, fish, chickens and ducks and she herself did not know that marijuana is harmful.
Earlier, on February 16, Buon Ho town police, Dak Lak, discovered and destroyed nearly 1,450 marijuana plants of the height from 70 - 120cm in the garden of Mrs. Le Thi Loi, 77. The police also found 717 seedlings in plastic bags and 2 kg of dried marijuana leaves in her kitchen. The total marijuana area at Loi’s home is up to 2.800m2.
At the police office, she said a man gave him the seeds, saying that they are "Thai sesame seeds." He hired her to plant and pledged to buy dried seeds at the price of VND10 million ($500) per kilo. She did not know that this is marijuana.
In 2012, police of Dak Lak discovered eight cannabis growing cases, seizing 1.750gr of seeds and destroying 3,580 trees.
