On March 27, the Da Nang People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation and upgrade of the March 29 Park (Thanh Khe District), the city's largest "green lung."

The project, managed by the Da Nang Project Management Board for Civil, Industrial, and Technical Infrastructure Construction, has a total investment of nearly USD 28.3 million, funded by the city’s budget. The expenses include approximately USD 14 million for construction, equipment, and other costs, USD 12.4 million for compensation, and USD 1.9 million for contingency.

Revitalizing Da Nang's "green lung"

Covering more than 20 hectares, March 29 Park is known as Da Nang’s largest green space. However, the park has gradually deteriorated, with outdated playgrounds and a lack of public amenities. The central lake is also polluted, as untreated wastewater continues to flow directly into it.

The renovation project will feature a prominent architectural landmark known as the "peace ring" on the lake, equipped with fountain columns, climate control systems, lighting, and sound equipment. Additional improvements include upgraded restrooms, boat docks, an outdoor stage, parking lots, and fitness areas.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, emphasized that the park, constructed after the city’s liberation, holds significant cultural and social value, enhancing the spiritual well-being of residents.

“Once renovated, the park will become a relaxing green space for both locals and visitors—a peaceful cultural landmark at the heart of the city, symbolizing Da Nang’s love for peace,” Nam stated.

Technical opening of Quang Da Bridge

On the same day, the Da Nang People's Committee also held a technical opening ceremony for the Quang Da Bridge over the Yen River, connecting Da Nang with Quang Nam Province. The bridge marks a step toward completing the regional transportation network and promoting socio-economic development.

The bridge project, which intersects with National Highway 14B at Km31+087 in Hoa Khuong Commune (Hoa Vang District), ends at the connection point with the Northern Ring Road project of Quang Nam Province in Dien Tien Commune (Dien Ban Town). The four-lane bridge has a total investment of over USD 11.5 million.

Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, highlighted the political and social significance of the project, describing the bridge as a symbol of solidarity between Da Nang and Quang Nam Province. "Today's technical opening marks an important milestone, paving the way for new development opportunities," he remarked.
