Da Nang officially launched the summer holiday at Mỹ Khê Beach with series of cultural and entertainment activities during the May Day vacation as well as the 7th Đà Nẵng International Fireworks Competition.
A gong and dance of the ethnic Xê Đăng group is organised at Đà Nẵng city’s museum.
Local artisans are taking their kites to the sky, and a children’s painting competition is in full swing. Musical performances have also been arranged over the weekend.
The city is hosting an environmental protection campaign which involves cleaning beaches and public sites along Mỹ Khê Beach and East Sea Park.
A street food space will be opened on April 29-30 at park on the east side of the Rồng (Dragon) Bridge, featuring 35 pavilions serving up 50 local dishes for local residents and tourists.
The cuisine space will serve diners during the opening ceremony of the fireworks competition on April 30, when Việt Nam will compete against Poland to see who can impress the crowds the most.
Also yesterday, a demonstration and performance of the ethnic Xê Đăng group was organised at the city’s museum, offering gong play and traditional dances. It also showcased brocade fashion and the cuisine of the ethnic community living in Quảng Nam Province’s Trà Nam Commune.
An exhibition of paintings was also opened at the city’s fine arts museum at 78 Lê Duẩn Street, displaying 50 paintings of artists from Huế and Đà Nẵng. The exhibition will open from 8am to 4pm every day, until May 16th.
An art space, Đà Nẵng Fresco village, has been launched at Alley 75 off Nguyễn Văn Linh Street to display a collection of 30 mural paintings. The space aims to attract young people and tourists to see colourful landscape paintings, and portraits of the people of Đà Nẵng.
According to the city’s tourism department, more than 340,000 tourists, of whom 100,000 are foreigners, have booked tours in Đà Nẵng during the holidays.
The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has added an additional 300 flights, meaning 60,000 seats, on 12 domestic flight paths to ease congestion during the four-day vacation.
Budget airline VietJetAir also added 200 flights to serve tourists between April 25 and May 5. — VNS
