The Sacom-Tuyen Lam Company has just sent a proposal to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to use part of the protective pine forest in Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourism Site for their resort project.
The protective forest, which lies in Da Lat City and Duc Trong District, was developed in 2004 following a decision by the prime minister.
The local Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been asked to co-operate with concerned agencies to audit the project before the provincial people's committee makes a decision.
Tuyen Lam Lake was the first in the country to be recognised as a national tourism site in 2017. The site covers 29,000 hectares of land in Da Lat City and Duc Trong District. More than 10 tourism companies are providing various services including luxury accommodation, picnics, adventure tourism, golf tournaments, and religious tours to the site.
Statistics from Lam Dong authorities showed that over 200,000 trees and 434 hectares of forests were planted during 2016-2020. As of 2020, forest coverage in Da Lat City reached 51 percent.
