The Ministry of Public Security has recently raised concerns about the rise in cybercrime, which can be categorized into three main types: brandjacking, identity theft and other combined forms of crime.
Cybercriminals engage in various fraudulent activities, including providing misleading information about travel promotions, deactivating subscribers’ SIM cards, conducting successful money transfers, making deepfake video calls, and impersonating police officers, teachers, medical workers, and financial institution officials.
They also lure individuals, particularly the elderly, teenagers, and students, into participating in illegal betting and usury schemes.
To address this issue, authorities have recommended several measures to protect information confidentiality. Internet users are advised to limit the sharing of personal information online and only provide it to trusted parties.
It is also important to use strong passwords to secure internet accounts, stay informed about the latest threats to information confidentiality, and learn about methods to prevent information leakage.
