The Cultural and Sports Festival of Luc Ngan district's ethnic groups has been restored based on the original Chu market, which is held on the 18th day of the second lunar month every year.
This is an activity in a series of spring festivals of ethnic minorities in the district, starting with the highland love market of Thac Luoi, in Tan Son commune (the 11th and 12th of the first lunar month) to Phong Van market and ending with Chu market.
The highlight of the early spring markets is that people from highland villages to lowland hamlets come together to the market to meet, date, have fun, sing love songs and immerse themselves in the source of folk music and folk melodies such as sli, luon, sloong hao...
The Cultural and Sports Festival of Luc Ngan district's ethnic groups was held for the first time in 1996 on the basis of preserving and restoring the unique beauty of folk culture, traditional art forms and daily life with long-standing tradition of the ethnic groups in the district. In 1998, the People's Committee of Bac Giang recognized the festival as one of the four major festivals of the province, which is organized every 5 years.
For nearly 30 years, the most unique beauties of ancient markets and singing festivals have been researched, selected, and synthesized to restore, preserve, inherit, and develop to become the core content of the cultural-sport festival of ethnic groups in Luc Ngan district today.
