VietNamNet Bridge - To go to school or go to work, people and children in Son Ba commune in Son Ha district of the central province of Quang Ngai have to risk their lives to cross the Rin River in a very odd way.
For decades, to go to the market, to school, and to the district and commune centers, over 600 households with 2,400 people of Son Ba commune have had to cross the river on a 3sq.m wide raft, which is moved by pulling a robe.
It is very dangerous in the rainy season, when the river is expanded to 500-600m wide and the water flow is very strong, said locals.
Most worriedly, every day hundreds of students in primary and secondary schools on the east coast cross the river to the west coast to go to school. Their lives are threatened daily.
Recently, the district authorities announced to build a bridge across the river, named Mo O.
People are very eager to the news.
