VietNamNet Bridge – German writer Nora Luttmer’s novel entitled “Schwarze Schiffe” (Black Boats) is being released in Germany on January 21, 2013, by the Aufbau Verlag publishing house in Berlin.




“Schwarze Schiffe” tells a crime story, which happens in Hanoi, Vietnam. E-book is available, with the German version only.

Nora Luttmer, born in 1973, lives in Hamburg as a freelance journalist and author. She studied South-East Asian history, politics and cultures in Passau, Hanoi and Paris.

Since the mid-1990s she has made regular visits to Hanoi. She can speak Vietnamese. Her work has been published in several newspapers, journals and books, including Public Private Hanoi, a collaborative photo-essay with André Lützen.

The city is frenzied, stifling and hot. Chief inspector Pham Van Ly wants to get out of town, when a young woman is found brutally murdered in the courtyard of Westlake Temple.

Her tattoos and the site of the crime suggest prostitution. First investigations lead Ly to the boatmen on the Red River. When another girl goes missing Ly not only finds himself in a race against time but also in terrifying conflict with a criminal who appears to have the best connections…
