VietNamNet Bridge - The highway connecting the city of Da Nang to Quang Ngai province is scheduled for completion in 2017, with four lanes and will be upgraded to six lanes with maximal speed of 120 km/h.
On the morning of May 19, in Dien Tho commune of Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province, the Ministry of Transport made the groundbreaking ceremony of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai highway. This is the first expressway in the central region, a key element of the national north - south highway.
By design, the highway is 139 km long, starting from the town of Tuy Loan (Hoa Vang district, Da Nang City) to Ky Nghia commune (Tu Nghia district, Quang Ngai province). The road is 24.5 m wide, with four lanes (two lanes for emergency stop). In the future, it will be upgraded to have six lanes, with maximal speed of 120 km/h.
The project includes a 540 m long tunnel (in Hoa Vang, Da Nang,) 102 bridges with a total length of 9 km, nine intersections, drainage system ... The expressway is expected to complete in 2017 with a total investment of nearly VND28 trillion ($1.3 billion).
In the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said after completion, the expressway will shorten the travel time between the two locations, open investment opportunities as well as make international transport connections of the economic triangle of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia. The road will also help ensure smooth traffic, emergency relief to people in the frequently flooded areas.
Phuc asked Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai to quickly complete clearance to facilitate the highway project.
