VietNamNet Bridge - The Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project organized fun-filled summer activities for school children on Cat Ba Island as part of their conservation education program.
The Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project (CBLCP) was established in 2000 with the aim to protect the Cat Ba langur and other wildlife of the Cat Ba Man and Biosphere Reserve.
Public education has been on their agenda ever since the establishment of the project, and in 2010 they also started a school education program. These interactive classes give 6th and 7th graders of all seven secondary schools of Cat Ba Island the opportunity to learn about Cat Ba’s nature and wildlife conservation through discussions and a variety of fun games.
This year the Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project extended their education program to the summer months as well, focusing on crafts sessions using the Cat Ba langur as the main theme. This not only helped the children remember the importance of the conservation of this charismatic animal, but also made the long summer months a lot more fun.
The lucky 5th and 6th graders were offered a wide variety of activities, including making Cat Ba langur face masks, Cat Ba langur puppets, 3D Cat Ba langur pictures, and colorful clay animals.
The Cat Ba Langur Conservation Project will soon start its 3rd year of conservation classes on Cat Ba Island’s secondary schools, while of course they also continue with their awareness raising and direct Cat Ba langur protection programs.
