Two earthquakes struck central Thua Thien-Hue province’s A Luoi district and Huong Tra town on December 6 and 7.

The 2.5-magnitude quake struck Huong Tra town at a depth of 3.9 km on December 6. It occurred on the mountainous area to the west of the town. This was the third time the local ground has been shaken since a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck on May 15.
The next day, a 2.7-magnitude quake took place in the mountainous district of A Luoi at a depth of some 11 km.
No damage was reported from the tremors, but local residents remain wary.
Local lakes, reservoirs and dams have been checked to ensure they are quake-proof, and research into tremors in An Luoi is being carried out by the provincial Department of Science and Technology.
