VietNamNet Bridge – On July 16, the CASA aircraft No. 8983 safely landed at Gia Lam Airport - Hanoi. This is the 3rd patrol airplane of the Coast Guard forces of Vietnam.

This is the third aircraft of the Coast Guard forces. Previously, the Air Force Brigade 918 received two CASA aircraft No. 8981 and No. 8982. This is the modern patrol aircraft of the 4th generation, manufactured by Airbus.

The plane is equipped with the modern reconnaissance system to serve patrol on the sea and land in order to protect oil spill, forest fires, etc.

The CASA 212 aircraft can operate over eight hours, using narrow and short runways, which are suitable for the conditions in Vietnam.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoai Thuy – chief of the Casa 212 Squadron said that two groups of pilots were sent to Spain for training. The new aircraft will be put into use early.

The CASA-212 is multitasking military transport aircraft of the 4th generation, which is designed specifically for naval reconnaissance missions, equipped with modern technical devices meeting European standards.

CASA-212 has a wingspan of 20.2 m, 16.1 m long, 6.5 m high, is equipped with blade turbine which allows it to fly at sea continuously for up to 7 hours. CASA-212 can achieve a speed of 360km/h, with the range of up to 1,800 kms and takeoff payload of 8.1 tons.
