Ecology expert Nguyen Huu Thien has warned about a series of problems that coal-fired power plants may cause to the Mekong Delta, especially the impact on the ecosystem.

While developed countries are cutting the number of coal-fired thermopower plants for fear about environment pollution, Vietnam is still building more plants.

Coal miners are allowed to export 2 million tons of coal, but they have not used up the yearly quota.
