On September 25th, CMC Corporation’s Chairman, Nguyen Trung Chinh, attended the launch of the C4IR at HCM City’s High-Tech Park. The event was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, HCM City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen, and HCM City  People’s Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai, alongside other leaders from local and international governments, business executives, and experts.

During the ceremony, both domestic and international enterprises committed to continuing their investment in high-tech projects, positioning HCM City as a center for innovation, research, and technology transfer. This collaboration is expected to significantly contribute to building a knowledge-based economy, enhancing sustainable growth driven by science, technology, and innovation.

In his speech, CMC Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh proposed an ambitious AI transformation strategy aimed at developing HCM City into a leading global AI hub. "AI is not just a technology but a development potential," he stated, underscoring CMC’s commitment to driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution in HCMC and beyond.

The launch of the C4IR was a key highlight of the 5th HCM City Economic Forum (HEF), themed "Industrial Transformation – A New Driver for Sustainable Development in HCM City." Held from September 24th to 27th, the forum attracted senior global leaders and top enterprises. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with HCM City officials, cut the ribbon at the C4IR, marking the fruition of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Vietnam and the World Economic Forum (WEF) for 2023-2026.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the establishment of the C4IR results from strong cooperation between Vietnam and the WEF, the dedication of HCM City’s authorities, and the active participation of the business community.   

The Prime Minister also expressed hopes that the center will act as a driving force for national development, inspiring progress in both HCMC and Vietnam at large.

AI transformation strategy unveiled

CMC Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh highlighted the critical role artificial intelligence will play in shaping the future of Industry 4.0. "Our AI transformation strategy, announced on September 11th, is a bold vision for HCM City to emerge as a global AI hub," said Chinh. He added that the initiative is expected to make HCM City a model city for AI-driven development, potentially influencing cities worldwide.

Chinh also referenced CMC’s recent AI strategy launch in Japan, emphasizing its global scale and vision for HCM City to become a leading technology center. "If successful, HCM City will be a technological beacon not just in Vietnam, but for the entire world," he remarked.

The collaboration between CMC and the C4IR is expected to foster a conducive environment for cutting-edge research, development, and technology transfer. This partnership not only elevates HCMC’s technological capabilities but also aligns with the city's vision of becoming the AI hub of Vietnam and the broader region.

The C4IR in HCM City is the second such center in Southeast Asia, following Malaysia, and forms part of the global network of Fourth Industrial Revolution Centers established by the WEF. The C4IR will focus on research, policy formulation, and technology transfer in key areas such as semiconductors, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

With support from international organizations and leading enterprises like CMC, the C4IR is positioned to become a major force in driving sustainable development, not only for HCM City but for Vietnam as a whole.
