Hanoi officials make “shocking statement” on civil servant recruitment
Minister Nguyen Thai Binh.
On March 24, in the TV program "People ask – Ministers reply," Interior Minister Nguyen Thai Binh admitted that in recent years the organization of examinations for civil servant recruitment has been step-by-step innovated and improved, but that there are still some issues with that task. The Ministry of Home Affairs has researched and applied some solutions. One of them is recruiting public servants through tests on computers.
The first test of this type was held recently. Accordingly, computers selected the exam questions from a data base with around 400 exam questions. The tests were conducted automatically on computers, with the results being released right after the test. Contestants immediately knew whether they passed the exams or not. All of them were satisfy because they knew that the exams are fair and transparent.
Through this examination, the Ministry of the Home Affairs has accepted the effectiveness of this recruitment type in ensuring fairness and transparency, in cost reducing and time saving.
"At present it is too early to say that this is a model for nationwide application, but with the above results, we can confirm that this method will contribute to much better implementing the target of reform of the civil servant mechanism," said Minister Nguyen Thai Binh.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will continue to study, modify, and complete the examination software and database for the implementation in the future.
