Update news City for Peace
In recent years, Hanoi has established itself as a magnet for visitors from both across the country and around the world, a status the city has achieved largely by bringing into play its long-standing heritages.
Chief Representative of the UNESCO Office in Vietnam Michael Croft presented a certificate recognising Hanoi as an official member of the UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network to Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung yesterday.
The final night of a contest aiming to find a Friendship Ambassador for Peace 2019 in Hanoi took place on December 12.
Hanoi has been listed among the best 10 cities to go for honeymoon in Asia by The Travel, a leading travel site of Canada. Vietnam’s capital is ranked second in the list, released by the site last month.
The moments when Hanoi was liberated on October 10, 1954 are being revived through a programme entitled ‘Memory of Hanoi – 65 Years’, which started on October 5 in the capital’s Old Quarter.
An exhibition featuring 200 photographs and documents is underway at Exhibition Information House on 45 Trang Tien street in Hanoi to mark the 20th anniversary of the capital city's recognition as a “City for Peace” by UNESCO.
