At 07.00am the storm, the 10th of its kind to hit the East Sea this year, was positioned 560km South East of Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago, sustaining winds of 74kmh near its centre.

In the next 24 hours the storm is forecast to move between North and North West and change its course into West and South West, travelling at a speed of 10kmh.

It will slow to 5kmh and regain strength on September 29.

The storm is causing rough seas and heavy rains in the area surrounding the Hoang Sa archipelago.

As of 6.30am on September 27 provincial border guards informed 29,000 vessels with 160,770 fishermen on board of the storm’s directions to avoid danger areas.

The 8th storm which brought torrential rains to the central coastal provinces a week ago killed at least 22 people and injured six others.
