As of the evening of August 24th, Nguyen The Hoan, Chairman of the Cao Bang City People's Committee, reported that 178 homes had been inundated, with significant damage to transportation infrastructure and agricultural areas. By the afternoon of August 25th, the situation had deteriorated further, with 193 homes affected and nearly 400 hectares of crops and vegetation damaged.

The hardest-hit area is Hop Giang Ward, where 90 homes have been submerged. Other severely impacted areas include Ngoc Xuan Ward, Hung Dao Commune, and Song Bang Ward. Local authorities have described this flood as the largest in the past two decades.

Despite the severity of the flooding, no casualties have been reported, thanks to proactive measures taken by the city government. Chairman Hoan noted that early disaster preparedness directives were issued, and as the floodwaters rose, the Civil Defense, Disaster Prevention, and Search and Rescue Command quickly implemented urgent measures to mitigate the damage.

Residents of the city have been struggling to cope with the rising waters for several days. Nguyen Van Vu, a resident of De Tham Ward, shared that his home has been underwater since the night of August 23rd, with water levels remaining high. "Our house started flooding around 9:30 PM. We couldn’t move our belongings quickly enough—everything got soaked," Vu recounted.

Similarly, Hoang Van Tu, another resident of De Tham Ward, described the challenges faced by his family as they dealt with the rapidly rising waters. "Even though we prepared in advance, the Bang River floodwaters rose too quickly, and many people couldn't respond in time," Tu said.

Local authorities have been actively providing support, including essential supplies and life jackets, and have evacuated vulnerable residents to safer locations. The city’s leadership has conducted field inspections and coordinated efforts to assist residents in relocating their belongings to higher ground.

The flooding has also caused significant agricultural losses, with over 588 hectares of rice fields and crops submerged. Additionally, landslides and collapsed walls have been reported in several districts, further complicating the response efforts.

As Cao Bang City continues to grapple with the aftermath of the flood, local authorities remain vigilant, with ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
