According to the General Statistics Office, the industrial index of production over the period was estimated to increase by 9.9 percent against the same period last month.

Foreign investment inflows picked up 0.8% to US$14 billion while disbursed volume of foreign investment capital was estimated to rise by 6.7 percent to US$7.15 billion.

The country’s export and import values soared by 30.7 percent and 36.4 percent to US$130.94 billion and US$131.31 billion.

Regarding the COVID-19 situation, the nation recorded 4,780 community infection cases of COVID-19 in 37 cities and provinces since April 27, 2021 when the fourth COVID-19 wave emerged, raising the national patient tally to 7,870 as of 6:00 am on June 3.

Among the aforesaid localities, Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are the biggest hotspots with 2,565 and 927 cases, followed by Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In a bid to contain the current COVID-19 wave, the Ministry of Transport decided to temporarily suspend international flights to Noi Bai international airport in Ha Noi from June 1-7 and Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City from May 27 to June 4, and reduce flight frequencies to Tan Son Nhat airport from June 1-14.

The Government decided to establish a COVID-19 vaccine fund to rally support from local and foreign individuals and organizations for purchase, import, research and production of COVID-19 vaccines.
