Hundreds of Buddhists hailing from different localities attend a grand ceremony to commemorate the birth of Lord Buddha at Quan Su pagoda, the headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. The commemoration is observed on the 15th day of the fourth lunar month every year that falls on May 22 this year. Thousands of Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers join in a parade of scented flower vehicles and Buddha relics on May 21. Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns, and followers offer incense to Lord Buddha and chant Buddhist scriptures. People form long lines to take part in the procession praying for a peaceful world. Many people attend the procession of flower vehicles and Buddha relics through Ly Thuong Kiet, Ba Trieu, and Tran Hung Dao streets. An incense-offering ceremony to pray for both national peace and prosperity is also held as part of the ritual. VOV
