VietNamNet Bridge - Two men were seriously injured after they used an explosive to help them catch fish.

They were taken to the Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City in serious condition.

According to investigators, at 8pm on July 26, Mr. Vo Van Hung, 35, a fisherman in Ninh Hai district in the central province of Ninh Thuan, and his brother Vo Van Manh, 34 went fishing at sea.

After zoning the catching area, Hung ignited a piece of homemade explosive of about 200 grams. The explosive exploded on Hung’s hands. The incident damaged the left hand and arm as well as the eyes of the two men.

After the accident, the two victims were taken to the Ninh Thuan General Hospital for emergency aid, where one third of the left hand of both men was cut off. The victims were then transferred to the Cho Ray Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Ha Thanh Binh of the Cho Ray Hospital said that the patients are out of danger but they suffer from very severe sequelae. Hung lost about 5% of the skin, one third of the left arm and is blind. His brother – Manh – also lost part of his left arm and he might lose his sight.

In addition, the two men have several holes in their chests and their right lung was damaged due to the pressure of the explosive.
