Mothers who breastfeed run a lower risk of developing Alzheimer's, with longer periods of breastfeeding further reducing the risk, a new study paper unveiled on Monday.

 The number of U.S. babies who are breastfed has continued to rise over the past decade, according to new data released Wednesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

 Children who are breastfed longer are more likely to have a better understanding of language and a higher intelligence (IQ) later in life, a U.S. study said Monday.
