VietNamNet Bridge – Two persons, reportedly involved in the killing of six persons in the southern Binh Phuoc Phuoc Province on July 7, was prosecuted today for murder and theft, said Colonel Nguyen Truong Son, secretariat of Binh Phuoc Province Police's office.

The six victims were members of a wealthy family.

The two suspects have been taken into custody for four months for further investigation.

Nguyen Hai Duong and Vu Van Tien, both 24, from An Giang Province and HCM City's Hoc Mon District, respectively, allegedly told investigation officials that they had committed the murders.

At a press conference by the public security ministry last Saturday, police said the two men were captured four days after wood processing magnate Le Van My, his wife, son and daughter, as well as two relatives were found murdered in their villa in Chon Thanh District. All had their throats slit.

Investigation officials said Duong was motivated by revenge because of his relationship with Le Thi Anh Linh, 22, who was killed along with her parents.

Her family had opposed Linh's relationship with Duong. He and Linh had been involved romantically for more than four years, and Duong had once lived in the family's villa for a while.

Duong reportedly thought of a murder plan in April. He bought a metal-ball gun for VND6 million (US$280), an electric shock gun for VND2 million, 30-cm-long knives and gloves, as well as masks and other items. On July 6, Duong met his friend Tien for coffee and asked him to help rob a wealthy family.

The public, shocked by the brutality of the murders, urged police and relevant agencies to strictly punish the criminals.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, head of the government's steering committee for fighting and preventing crime, hailed police and local authorities for quickly nabbing the suspects. He called for a prompt investigation and a strict trial.
