Becamex Binh Duong have signed a contract with the fourth foreign player in preparation for the Asian Football Confederation Champions League.

Australian midfielder Vrankovic David, 22, has been arrived and tested by the new club.

David is a former member of the national U20 squad and has played for the semi-professional Bonnyrigg White Eagles club in Sydney.

The club is currently playing in the National Premier League.

The three other players to have been recruited are Oseni Ganyiu Bolaji, Cheikh Abass Dieng and Oloya Mosses.

The defending champions are in the League's Group E along with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (South Korea), Shandong Luneng Taishan (China) and a winner of the second play-off match.

The tournament will commence on February 4. 

Road cycling team set for int'l trail

The national road race cycling team has been assembled with 18 athletes preparing to participate in various international competitions in 2015.

While some veteran cyclists have been ignored this year, coaches have recruited several young players, as part of a plan to rejuvenate the team.

The 10 male athletes will train under Kyrgyzstan's expert coach Nikolai Kurkov and five local coaches at the National Sport Training 2 camp in HCM City.

The players will compete in many international events, including the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore, which will be their top priority.

Injury keeps Trieu out of action

Hoang Anh Gia Lai's injured midfielder Tran Huu Dong Trieu did not play against Dong Tam Long An in the Toyota V.League 1 on Sunday and will remain out of action.

Trieu played at first but was replaced 15 minutes later, as he was not strong enough to compete in the high-stakes game.

Trieu had suffered a thigh injury last October during an international U21 event in HCM City.

His substitute Bui Van Long also did not play well yesterday, with his mistakes resulting in Hoang Anh Gia Lai's 1-2 defeat.

Doctors have said that Trieu will not be able to play anytime soon.

Apart from Trieu, Coach Guillaume Graechen is also worried about foreign midfielder Mtija Morec, who is suspected to have contracted a heart disease.

The Slovenian had displayed an outstanding performance during the first round match last week, but was not part of the team in Long An yesterday.

Graechen said Morec was currently in HCM City for an intensive check-up. The team will take a final decision about his presence in the team after seeing the test results.
