Binh Duong flower village in full bloom ahead of New Year
The flower garden in Tan Ba street in the southern province of Binh Duong has begun to bloom as the flower market serves customers ahead of the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet.
By the end of the ninth lunar month every year, people in Tan Ba neighborhood put aside growing green vegetables and turn to plant flowers for Tet. At this time of year, popular names such as Tan Ba Flower Village or Binh Duong Tet Flower Village become more relevant.
Covering an area of nearly 10 hectares, farmers tend to grow various types of splendid flowers for Tet, including chrysanthemums, marigolds, cockscombs, and sunflowers.
In order for the flowers to bloom in time for the festive period, farmers in Tan Ba have strictly monitored the weather forecast to take proper care of the flowers accordingly
This year, farmers based in Tan Ba flower village feel excited as the flowers are in full bloom thanks to the favourable weather conditions.
Currently, many traders based in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong have come to make deposits and wait for the day to cut flowers to sell. According to local residents, flowers in Tan Ba flower village are mainly used to decorate the altar during Tet, meaning farmers do not have to worry about the sale outlets.
Each year sees people in Tan Ba grow only one flower crop. Economically, it doesn't make much profit, but due to their great passion for growing Tet flowers, local people maintain the tradition from generation to generation.
Tan Ba is the only flower village in Binh Duong. Therefore, in the days leading up to Tet, many tourists from all over choose to come to visit to snap selfie photos.
With the increasing rate of urbanisation and agricultural land area gradually shrinking, residents in Tan Ba have retained the land area for agriculture and flower growing.
