On the afternoon of March 16, GS Caltex played their fifth match in the sixth round of the Korean Volleyball Championship. Their opponents, Hwaseong IBK Altos, had lost to GS Caltex in their two previous encounters.

Despite being the stronger team in terms of form and squad depth, GS Caltex struggled with errors in the first set, particularly in passing, leading to a narrow 24-26 defeat.

GS Caltex fights back to claim victory

GS Caltex rebounded in the second set, quickly taking an 8-2 lead. Foreign player Silva shone with multiple aces from the service line. Although IBK Altos closed the gap in the final moments, a decisive spike from Oh Se Yeon secured a 25-22 win for GS Caltex.

The third set saw both teams engaged in an early back-and-forth battle before GS Caltex pulled ahead to dominate 25-14. In the fourth set, GS Caltex faced stiff resistance but managed to edge out IBK Altos 25-23, clinching a 3-1 overall victory. This crucial win lifted GS Caltex to sixth place in the 2024/25 Korean V-League standings, moving them out of the relegation zone.

Vietnamese middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy delivered another solid performance, contributing six points, including four successful blocks. With this match, her total points tally for GS Caltex in the season reached 115. She has just one more game left in the Korean V-League before returning to Vietnam.
