The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway plays a crucial role in connecting southern provinces, promoting trade and economic development in the region. This highway offers stunning natural scenery, particularly the section that passes through the mangrove forest.
The project spans over 57 kilometers, passing through Long An, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City. The section through Dong Nai is approximately 27 kilometers long and includes three packages: A5, A6, and A7.
Package A7 is considered the most complex part of the project due to its challenging terrain, including rivers and swamps.
In mid-July, workers were rapidly completing the final tasks for package A7, which include paving, installing anti-glare panels, painting road markings, and setting up traffic signs.
Nguyen Thien Dat, the project manager for this package, noted that the 3.5-kilometer section passes through the mangrove forests of Long Thanh and Nhon Trach districts in Dong Nai province.
"The construction progress for this package has reached over 95%. Both the contractor and the investor are determined to complete it by the end of July," Dat shared.
Dat also mentioned that the total investment for this package is over 1.1 trillion VND ($43.4 million), with more than 720 billion VND allocated for the Thi Vai Bridge and elevated sections. The construction of the bridge faced numerous challenges, including multiple drill bit breaks, which increased costs.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, over 57 kilometers long, has an investment of more than 31.3 trillion VND ($1.23 billion). The construction started in 2014 and was expected to be completed in five years. However, the project was halted until mid-2023 due to regulatory issues. Construction has now resumed, with the expressway expected to be completed by September 2025.
